multi source power supply for a Pi?

Postby springs » Tue Jul 22, 2014 12:42 pm

Would it be possible to power the Pi from a range of power sources?

I.e. first power it off a solar panel/s, when this drops off, switch to a wind turbine. when this stops, switch to battery backup and then ultimately switch over to mains if the other sources can't provide enough power to keep a Pi going?

would be nice to be able to power a pi 24/7 on renewable sources if possible?

springs: Yeah!! I'm with you on that one!! - At the moment on a small scale (ie not using a big car battery etc ;-) the closest I can get is the 'combo' kit with a 1.5amp solar panel and the 12,000 mah li-ion pack and use a timer to switch off/on until you can just hit the 'tipping point' where solar exceeds usage. BUt I'm with you on multi green power :-) the 12,000 pack is not enough to run without sun for more than a few days which in the UK can be an issue.
